Sports teams and clubs

We still have lots of unclaimed posters and wristbands in school following our sponsored event. These were handed out to the children but have then been left in classrooms. If you think your child should have a poster or wristband and hasn't brought it home, could you please put a message in their planner for the attention of Ms. Holmes or Miss Richardson. Thank you.

Dance Festival

Unfortunately the Dance Festival for Year 1 and Year 2 children that was due to take place on Monday has had to be postponed. The revised date will be given as soon as the festival has been rearranged.

Mini Soccer

Pupils from Years 3 and 4 had a great time representing the school at Tadcaster Grammar in a 5-a-side football tournament. Two teams were entered and came joint 1st and 3rd. The children shouted each other on and applauded the opposing teams. It would be fantastic if we had a parent or member of the community that could offer up some of their time to run a football club at school. Please contact Georgina Holmes on the school number if interested.

Cross Country

A huge congratulations to our fabulous athletes who have qualified for the next round of the Cluster Cross-Country which will take place on the 4th December at Tadcaster Grammar School. Well done to all the pupils from Years 3 - 6 who took part. You were amazing and made us so proud.

The Golden Mile

What an end to our mini topic on the Olympics.

Miss Jackson introduced us to our Play Leaders in a special assembly. The children then spent the day in training so that they can 'run' the Golden Mile each lunchtime. A track will be set out, the lap measured and children will log the distance they run each time. Certificates are awarded from 10 miles and the ultimate challenge is to log 150 miles in an academic year. Lots of our budding Olympians have already set themselves this challenge!

Sporting Round Up

What a fabulous afternoon of sport. Team Appleton and Team Roebuck were both playing in a rounders tournament at Tadcaster Grammar School. Both teams demonstrated excellent batting skills and showed some super tactical play when fielding. Team A won one match and Team R won two. Well Done!

What a fabulous evening of cricket! After a good spirited and hard fought game against Acomb Primary, Appleton Roebuck won their first match of the season. There was some amazing batting shown by both sides and some talented players for us to keep our eye on. Our Man of the Match was Harry Nichols who bowled a 3 wicket maiden in the final over and a special mention to George Dadvar who was playing his first ever game. Well done, everyone!

Our next match is against Bishopthorpe after school on Monday.

Bikeability Superstars!

A huge well done to all our Year 6 children who achieved level 2 in Bikeability. They were a credit to our school with exemplary behaviour shown to the instructors who joined us over the two days. If you bring your certificates back into school we can present them to you officially in next week's assembly.
