It was a huge honour for our choir – only formed in September! – to be invited to perform at the BBC Radio York Children In Need Concert at the Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster on Sunday 6 December.
Performing alongside Beth McCarthy from BBC 1’s The Voice, blues singer Tom Townsend and country singer Nancy Ann Lee, our children stole the show with some fantastic singing, including a brave solo by Felicity Mercer in Small Part of the World and a special guest appearance by Gabriella Commins for the beautiful Agnus Dei.
Anyone listening to Radio York the following day will have heard just about every presenter saying how marvellous the choir was, and as a result of this concert, the Mayor of Tadcaster has asked if we can perform at one of his forthcoming charity concerts – more details about that in the New Year.
Just to add, it was not just their singing that impressed everyone – despite having long periods of waiting between rehearsals and the performance, the children behaved wonderfully – the Appleton Roebuck Gold Standard on public display for everyone to see and hear!
