Our outstanding school
About our school
Our school is a community day school for children between the ages of four and eleven, administered by North Yorkshire County Council in the pretty village of Appleton Roebuck, just off the A64 between York and Leeds.
The school building is a combination of the original village school and more recent extensions. At the heart of the school is the hall, which regularly hosts assemblies and gatherings as well as music lessons, and the school also has a modern sports hall, located across the playground adjacent to the sports field.
The school has five classes:
- Hungry Caterpillars (Early Years Foundation Stage)
- Gruffalos (Year 1)
- BFGs (Year 2/3)
- Borrowers (Year 3/4)
- Hobbits: Year 5/6
The school occupies a safe, enclosed site, which includes extensive playing fields and a hardplay facility. Other outdoor facilities include a developed nature study area with pond, a covered patio area and a quiet area with picnic tables.
We particularly cater for pupils from Appleton Roebuck and Bolton Percy, although children from further afield are very welcome. We try to keep class sizes as small as possible for a personalised learning experience, but we do currently have spaces available across the school.
